(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - “Ramadan is the spring of the Quran and we, in the ICRO, have tried to plan our various programs across the world about the Holy Book.”
Dr Mohammad Bagher Khorramshad noted that the Supreme Leader recently regarded the Quran as the most important factor in the unity, dignity and power of the Islamic Ummah. “Thus, in our planning we have paid attention to the Quran’s role in strengthening Islamic unity.”
He referred to Quranic weeks as one of the programs for the holy month. “29 Quranic weeks will be held in 20 Asian, African, and European countries. They include Sweden, the UK, Canada, Russia, Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia, Tunisia, France, and Kenya.”
Head of the ICRO noted that the Quranic week feature art exhibits with Quranic themes as well as sending Tawasheeh groups, and Quran reciters and memorizers to these countries.
“Some of these Quranic weeks are organized with the cooperation of other institutions. The program in Turkey, for instance, will be held with the cooperation of Isfahan governor general’s office sending artists from Isfahan to showcase the art and cultural richness of the city.”
According to Dr Khorramshad, in some countries like Malaysia and Indonesia the Quranic weeks are held in more than one city simultaneously. “As part of the programs in Malaysia, a Quranic carpet, which is of unique artistic value, will be unveiled.”
He said the ICRO is also to hold a Quran education plan titled Ishraq for expatriate Iranians. The plan involves sending educational packages during the holy month of Ramadan to other countries and using the cyberspace for teaching the Quran.
“Initially, we have selected a number of countries where the highest number of expatriate Iranians live. Thus, the first stage of the Ishraq plan will be held in Canada, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Italy, the UK and France.”
Sending 180 religious preachers to 25 countries is another program by the ICRO for the holy month, he added.
He also referred to the opening of the International Holy Quran Exhibition’s international section on August 10 and said the ICRO is in charge of running this section with the theme of “Islamic Awakening”.
“More than 30 Quran researchers, translators, and artists from various countries like Germany, Syria, Tunisia, Sudan, India, Thailand, Malaysia, France, and the Philippines have been invited to take part in the international section,” he concluded.
